The Search for the Identity of the Sender of the Anonymous Letter

I received an anonymous letter the other day outlining a THD resident concerns on our living environment and quality of life here at THD. The letter was dated May 13 and postmarked in Oakland.  I am not sure if this letter was mailed to all THD residents or just a few or just to me. I am not also sure if this letter sent to me is a signal that I write this in my blogs.

The complaints centered on and a few items regarding secrecy on rents, poor communication of THD management to the Residents, rapid turnover of our drivers, the 2-seating Dinner schedule and the fear that if residents complain there will be retaliation and rent hikes as well as being singled out.

If you receive this letter, please let me know. So far I have confirmed 5 residents have received this letter. I have been urged/advised not to put the full letter in my blogs. I will not put the full letter in my blogs currently, But I reserve my right and freedom to express myself and the truth as a blogger perhaps in the near future, if I feel it is necessary for the good of the majority of our residents here at THD.

Here are a few responses from My Summary the Letter and E-mail Above : Anonymously for Privacy of the Responders

1. David , You are too kind as you outline the contents of that unsigned letter. The worst part was a personal attack on one on our Heritage residents along with an attack on one of the Heritage staff. These attacks made in an anonymous letter are unacceptable. If anybody living at Heritage is so unhappy here, there is a rapid solution to their problem.  It is called a door.  No one is forced to remain a resident at Heritage.  With any and all the problems that arise in our community, I always feel well taken care of and feel sad that someone else clearly has not been able to experience that  sense of comfort.

2. David, the coward who wrote it even disgustingly made implications about a relationship between a resident with a worker here. This is none of his/her business, and has nothing to do with the wonderful community at THD!!! If there are things that need improvement here , there are ways to achiever them through warm and just discussion. While discussing this with others we have guessed that since a renters council was mentioned , it had to be someone who was here prior to my coming- because  I‘d been told that the aforementioned  Counsel had been disbanded before I arrived here. There are people I suspect, but time will tell. I suggest that anyone having information should reply to you or your blog BUT NOT ANONYMOUSLY.

3. David, We did not receive this letter.  However, I believe some of the issues are legitimate.  In the seven years we have lived here, only once were residents asked their opinions - and there was no general feedback from the responses.  THD would be required to have a Resident's Committee if it were licensed as a Health facility.  The set 2 seating dinner is unfortunate, but seems necessary based on the growth in occupancy.  I have no major complaints at this time, but would like to see better communication.  I actually rely on your blog for info on changes of staff and comments on many of the events.  Thank you for that.

4. DavidAs I told you at bridge today, we also received this letter; but it was just slipped under our door in a white envelope.  If you find out anything more about the 5W’s (to a non teacher that is- who, what, when, where and how) please let me know.  PS the 5W’s was a tool I used to help students write an essay! Thanks!

5.  David,  I have not received this letter and I feel strongly that this should not be put in your blog. I distrust people who do things Anonymously.  What you write are your personal opinions and those I respect. Thanks for sharing

6. David,  I agree with some of the things that need improvement here at THD, better Communication between THD management and its residents ( Clients), frustration on van services,  etc..., but the letter is not acceptable.  If this person is so unhappy, then bye, bye!

7. David - Please know that I am not comfortable participating in any search for the writer of that terrible letter.  For me, it is better to let it die a more natural death of being ignored

8. Hi DavidJust wondering….have you received any more letters?  It’s quite strange. Any idea who wrote and sent them and why to you?  Probably because of your daily blog.

This letter is one of the hot topics I am discussing with my meal time companions for the last 3 days. We agree that the sender is a younger senior resident ( probably mid 70's) based on the hand writing analyses . We also discuss that the sender uses the Van services often and is in the second-seating dinner schedule. We also suspect the sender resides at the Heritage as one of the letters was just slipped in the door of another resident at the Heritage Tower and the sender is a woman

Since the letter states that the sender has been in residence here about 2 years or less, this list of suspects can be narrowed down.  I am curious of the identity of this sender, not only as a Resident but because I am a Hound for News and a Blogger!

I talked to the other resident who received the letter. His letter was postmarked from Orlando, Florida. But his wife said it was slipped in the door. Who is correct? Are we talking about 2 letters? Or are we talking about the same letter? The mystery deepens  and the search for the identity of the sender is in full swing.

Anyone with additional information on the identity of this Anonymous sender,  please communicate it to me either via e-mail or in person.

Finally My Comment: To the Anonymous Sender:  If you have issues, Please addressed your concerns directly to THD Management in person. Personal attack on THD employees is cowardice.  I agree there is no place that is 100% perfect, but writing an anonymous letter attacking persons is a not a smart thing to do.  And If you are so unhappy here at THD,  Leave! There are a number of people on the waiting list ready to replace you, once you leave.

Postscripts: Here are excerpts from the Anonymous Letter:

" Have You noticed how rent varies? Some are moderate; others seem outrageously high. Why the inconsistency? Why the secrecy?

"After nearly two years at Heritage, I find myself near a breaking point. Many of you may feel the same but like me, have kept quiet out of fear.  Fear of Retaliation, fear of rent hikes, fear of being singled out"

"We used to have weekly forum, where we could gather, speak freely and address our concerns as a community.  That  group, as you may recall was disrupted by one resident.  Etc,  etc, etc..etc... As a result people stopped attending".

"Who else is frustrated by the van service? It seems like every time a new driver starts. they are gone within a week.  One driver told me etc... etc.... about poor pay, no benefits and harsh management" .

Finally, the letter concluded: We should not be afraid to talk to one another. We should not be afraid to ask questions about van services, staff turnover or restaurant seating changes. These are basic elements of our daily lives, and they are a part of what we're paying for. "

Let's reclaim our voice, etc... etc.... We deserved transparency. We deserved respect. We deserve a say.   Sincerely, ( No signature), A Concerned Neighbor.

I am hoping to learn of the identity of the sender of this anonymous letter soon . I promise to keep you inform. Meanwhile, I hope your are enjoying my several postings with the help of AI technology.

Meanwhile, here are 25 most intelligent sounding words to add to your vocabulary.

Lastly, Yesterday Afternoon performance, the Stay at Tone Mom  Choir was indeed a musical success. THD donated to the group charity ( $200), the Peter Fan Foundation after their performance. We hope for their return this Christmas for Holiday Concert of Holiday songs.
